As the leaves turn, sort of?

In honor of the first day of fall, I wanted to share all of the things I love about my favorite time of the year. The fall candle aromas, darker nail polish selections, fashion and d'cor are some of the best things about the end of summer and beginning of fall.

Fall Candles- I have a tremendous obsession with candles. I have sampled all brands and types, but I swear by Bath and Bodyworks candles. They smell so good! I usually pick them up when they're on sale, 2 for $20 3-wick candles. Their candles are on sale till midnight tonight 9/23!

To better assist you in making your selections, here are my scent picks for fall, along with season appropriate candle sleeves to accessorize them with!

Nail Polish- Summer is officially over and the time has come to say goodbye to those bright summer polishes. I am especially excited to start using Essie's fall 2012 collection on my nails!

Fashion- Put away your wedges and straw totes. Fall definitely calls for a change in wardrobe. My favorite trends for fall are the colors teal or wine, and anything with a snakeskin or leopard print. I am also really into this season's booties & pointed shoes!

Fall D'cor- Since the weather does not match the season here in Miami, decorating your home will really make you feel as if fall has arrived. This year, I am hoping to show you all some DIY holiday projects and recipes. Just the thought of all of this makes my heart so giddy!

FFF: Statement Necklaces

As of late, I have been on an oh-so-fab statement necklace binge. I've been scooping up so many recently, that it inspired this post. To me, statement pieces like the ones below, always speak volumes. They are a reflection of oneself and are almost always attractive, interesting, and eye catching.

Here are two from my personal collection.

It really seems as if these conversational pieces have been all of the craze lately, but were they really ever out? Personally, I have found them to be my go-to tools to give character to any outfit for quite some time now. I love how versatile they are, and how much they can take your ensemble to the next level. Statement pieces, my friends, are worthy buys!

I HEART abuela

For some time now, I have lived at my grandmother's house. Recently, I have been making arrangements to move on and out of abuela's, and it seems as if those plans are quickly coming to fruition. Hallelujah!

Regardless of the fresh anticipation of finally having my own love nest home to share with my significant other, packing and organizing to leave the room and bathroom I have occupied at abuela's has been bittersweet. Mornings where she greeted me at my bedside with a fresh cup of "cafe con leche," and a life lesson that only a Cuban grandma could deliver will soon be coming to an end. I am sad to leave behind empty spaces and lots of memories with abuela, whom I love dearly.

In order to fill both the emotional and physical void, I have decided to decorate certain parts of the house to show my appreciation for her love and generosity.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be tackling the jacuzzi spa bathroom that once belonged to me, using the existing glass tile back splash as inspiration.

By positioning an array of frames in a collage-style, abuela's hallway will display our extensive travels together, like this wall featured in one of my favorite blogs, Young House Love.

Lastly, I'll organize her laundry room, which by the way, looks as if a tornado swept through. I'll spare you all by refraining from showing you guys what it really looks like. :)

Those are the plans! Check back often. I'll be posting progress updates of these projects, as well as others I'm currently working on.
